I did it!

I encourage my kids to do things for themselves. They do a great job most of the time. At least 50% of the time Ry puts his pants on backwards and I make him take them off, "Remember, zipper and button in the front!" This particular day he took them off, turning them inside out and then promptly put them right back on without paying any attention to zipper and button placement or the fact that they were wrong side out. He is always very proud of himself for putting on his own clothes. This was no exception. He declared himself ready to go outside not caring at all about his inside out-backwards pants.
Not wanting to stifle his independence or creativity, I simply snapped this picture, opened the door and let him go play.

fun filled weekend

Our weekend consisted mainly of t-ball. Saturday started at 9am with opening ceremonies and then we had breakfast downtown with Pappy G (T's dad). After a filling pancake and chocolate milk D was fueled up for his first game. He was catcher, which was a bit confusing, but worked out okay. (Mama's going to have to move around the chain link next time to get better pictures.) He scored a run! I didn't expect it to be really fun, but everyone was so excited and we (the parents) were constantly cheering. We got snow-cones after the game and headed home. It was a long day.

Sunday we went to church and then had to go take t-ball pictures. We finally made it home around 3:30 and spent the rest of the day relaxing. By the way, I threw some sticker sheets in our quiet bag for church and by the time we left Ry had covered himself in stickers, but was very well behaved. I can't say the same for Rose. She was good for the first half. The second half was not our shining moment. Especially when she tried to open the door of the cry room resulting in a banging sound and then we tried to sit back in our pew, but she started to bolt when we tried to sit so back to the cry room we trudged and when I opened the door and it swung ALL the way open and knocked into the wall of stained glass windows and was terribly loud. T said it was okay because someone else opened it and it was loud so it wasn't just me. How comforting.

Today I'm going through all of our clothes and switching out our winter clothes for spring and summer. Sounds really exciting, huh? Well, it is. I just found an entire selection of shirts I had forgot about! I hope your day is just as thrilling, if not more so.

every day

me: alright, it's nap time!!!!
boys in unison: NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
rose: NOO!! (starts running away from me)

The boys get in their beds and immediately ask for something to drink. Fine, I'm sure they are SO thirsty. As I'm walking into the kitchen Rose looks like a deer in headlights and starts shrieking and running in circles. I ignore her attempts to avoid nap time and fill up the boys' cups. Rose is sitting on the couch when I come out of the boys' room and I scoop her up and she flails around all angry like. I laugh. I laugh a lot. I give her blanket to her, her cup and kiss her goodnight. She is already out of her bed and yelling at me when I shut her door. She plays for a while and then will crawl into her bed and go to sleep. After four minutes of nap time D comes out of his room.

D: Mommy? Um, can I color quietly?
me: No, you need to try to take nap.

Then I came in here and wrote this. After I had started cleaning up and folding laundry. Out comes D, again.

D: Can I have some fruit snacks?
me: No, not until after nap time.

Ry: I need to go potty.
me: Okay, go.

What will they ask next? I don't know, but I've got to attempt some sort of house work while they pretend to take a nap. ha. ha. ha.
Should I just give up on nap time already?

picture overload

Hey, let's go for a walk after supper.
Okay, that sounds like fun!

So, we need to cross this creek?

And this one, too? I'll go first!
 Hello, Girl-With-No-Fear.

Why don't we go ALL the way to back?
We'll have to cross another (the same?) creek.
And we'll see this...
Elk. (our neighbor's)
A little nature walk and a Texas sunset.
Perfect ending for the first day of Spring.
