Over the weekend we went to Bass Pro Shop (we were going to go to Ikea, but the parking lot was full so we just kept driving) and had some pizza from a little joint we hadn't been to in oh, maybe 7 years. The kids loved Bass Pro and even Sam was pointing out the tracks on the floor and following them. I thought it was pretty cool, too. We managed to get out only buying 2 things (a pair of shorts and a shirt for me that I can't wait to wear when the weather is warmer!). We also watched the NFL games on Sunday. D is a big Broncos fan (he really likes Peyton Manning) so it was a big deal. Tim's dad came over and brought D a Broncos hat, socks and tumbler. He also brought Ry and Rose tumblers showing their support for their favorite baseball teams. D was so excited about the Broncos winning! He's so excited to watch the Super Bowl.

Weekend and a Monday

Yesterday
I had to leave early yesterday morning to take Ry to his optometry checkup which went wonderfully. His doc was happy and also impressed with his ability to become bored so fast. Basically he sits in a big chair (very similar to a dentists chair) telling us which object he sees on the TV screen while the doc irritates him by asking him which shape he sees on the TV screen while she sticks a bunch of different lenses and stuff in front of his eyes. Four objects-house, square, apple, circle- for at least thirty minutes. He's three. Eventually he starts saying, "Ugh, I already told you! It's a house!" complete with dramatic sigh and slumping in the chair. His doc is awesome though and totally gets that after about five minutes he is just bored out of his mind. Which is why she laughed when he told her to open her drawer (where she keeps a couple of toys and lots of lenses and eye doctoring things) and let him have a toy. He picked out the Elmo on roller skates. His favorite and then proceeded to stuff it in his pocket while she was out of the room adjusting his glasses. (Of course I was not about to let him actually get away that.) She came back in and he pulled Elmo out of his pocket and she acted really surprised that Elmo was hiding... and then let him pick a toy out of the treasure box. Pretty good appointment, especially when I was prepared to dish out a bunch of money and it ended up being only $40. Even better.
Then I returned to my mom's house (she was watching the other two trouble makers) and Rose fell asleep before I could leave so I ended up staying there until 5. So... my house revolted while I was away, because I didn't listen to my own advice and clean everything before I left. I have a sink full of dirty dishes, an enormous pile of clothes to sort and wash, at least 13 pairs of shoes to trip over and various other mundane things to tend to. I'm hoping to be back later (no promises) and be way more exciting and more caffeinated. Being caffeinated takes things to a whole new level, ya know.

Definition: Without Aim
Answer: Random (I have problems)
One of my children put his stuffed animal-cat in my printer. Closed it up in the paper tray/ink cartridge area and everything. And also turned it on. This is one reason we need to install/build a door to that particular room called the "den". Otherwise known as the room I don't know what to do with. In the short time we have lived in this house it has been a den, living room (I mean really, what's the difference), play room, music room and now... reading and block room. I seriously have every book shelf (save one) in that room and ONE chair, my keyboard, an amp, a piano and the kids tiny red table and mega blocks.
However, ever since I cleaned out our room last week (or was that this week, I can't remember) it has been a toy-free zone. (Virtual high five!) I have kept the dining room table cleared off, the clothes are not running/ruining my life, the bathroom is nice again... What does this all mean. Are the stars aligning or something? Is the world about to end? Why am I suddenly able to be somewhat organized?
This weekend is bound to be awesome. Lots of celebrating on Saturday with T's best friend and his wonderful family. I don't know what else we are doing but perhaps watching some fireworks could be arranged. I don't know what day the Small Town is having them so I should find that out.
This week we drank four (4!) gallons of milk. Where is that milk cow we've been asking for? Would that add to my farming chores? Could we get an ice cream maker if we got a milk cow? Would I need to start churning my own butter, making cheese and those sorts of things? I would totally whip out my baby name book and name that cow something awesome. On that note, why is it a Baby name book? Don't we have these names for a lifetime? I am still walking around with my Baby Name... how lame of me.
Are you thinking after all these Random posts that I should rename my blog "Mama's Gone Random"? If it helps, sometimes I use my Country Voice when I'm reading this in my head. Oh, you can't hear it... I could podcast it. That would be so hilarious. Seriously, T suggested I do a podcast yesterday (while he was putting Tabasco Sauce all over the scrambled eggs) and I laughed. Laughed because we both know I can't carry a conversation with REAL people, let alone virtual people. By virtual I mean... we wouldn't be talking face-to-face. You and I are obviously real people. "Hi, nice to meet you." Virtual handshake. "I'm so glad you stopped by."
See you Monday (virtually speaking, of course)
