1. My new curling iron (I got it for Christmas and love it!)
2. Eating lunch with Rose and bringing cookies to her class for her (belated) birthday. (Her birthday is during Christmas break)
3. Getting to play volleyball again! I'm playing on our church's team and practices have been fun.
4. My hammock
5. Chicken Cordon Blue casserole- most of the kids liked it, too
6. Super dark chocolate
7. The new "limited edition" Snow Blossom body wash by Dove. I love how it smells
8. Snuggling on the couch with Sam in the mornings after everyone else is off to work and school
9. Hugs from my kids
10. My pillow. Honestly, it's one of the best gifts I've ever received.

Ten Happy Things Friday
One
My wonderful family.
Two
My new running watch and wireless earbuds I got for Christmas. They make running better.
Three
Hot tea in my big Yeti that I sip all morning.
Four
My puppy, Ranger. She is just the cutest and makes me happy.
Five
Playing Barbies with Sam the past few days. It has been difficult to convince her that "Barbie" needs to go put the clothes in the dryer now, she'll be right back!
Six
New mascara.
Seven
Watching The Man in High Castle with Tim.
Eight
Making apple cinnamon bread for the kids this afternoon. It's really cold today, so it will be nice to have a slice of warm bread when they get home.
Nine
New socks
Ten
My hammock. Hammock sleeping is awesome.

ten happy things friday
One
My baby is turning 2 on Sunday. I can't believe how fast time is going! Sam is such a joy in our lives.
Two
I have almost all of my Christmas shopping done. I feel like I'm usually very last minute about gifts, but I only have a few left and I don't need to stress about them.
Three
I've got some sugar cookies in the oven baking for the kids snack. The boys come home ravenous in the afternoons.
Four
The kids decorated the Christmas tree this year and I think it's great. There are clusters of ornaments here and there and bare spots, but I haven't had the impulse to make it look "just right". It's perfect. (There are usually 4 or 5 ornaments rolling around the floor because Sam likes to take them down.)
Five
I'm looking forward to a couple of exciting "get aways" we have planned for next year.
Six
Tacos. I probably have put tacos on this list so many times already.... To be specific this week- crunchy tacos.
Seven
Dunkin Donuts coffee. We finally got a Dunkin in our neck of the woods and it is good. I only ever get a large coffee with milk and sugar, but they somehow make it exactly the way I like it. Every time.
Eight
I made fried rice last Friday and it was so good! I've got it on my menu for next week.
Nine
Date nights. I just went through a 2015 calendar and tried to plan out a date night for each month. Even if it's just a movie after the kids are in bed- it's so good to have that time with my husband.
Ten
Only a week left of school before Christmas break! It will be nice to have some lazy days.

ten happy things friday
It has been a few months. Sorry for the long blog silence... I can't promise I'll post before another 4(ish) months go by, but I'll try.
One
It's Friday! It snowed the tiniest bit overnight and everything iced over and school was cancelled! It was a fun day here.
Two
A new job (for Tim) that's closer to home.
Three
I really like my life. I like my house, small it may be, but it is perfect in its own way. My kids drive me crazy and it's wonderful. My husband works so hard for us and makes me so happy.
Four
Books! I read 3 books in the past 2 weeks and they were great. I weirdly feel a little lost after the kids go to bed I have no book to read. Any recommendations I would appreciate.
Five
I think my ultimate comfort food is mashed potatoes and gravy. There are many evenings that I'm trying to work mashed potatoes into dinner. If only they went well with tacos.
Six
Organizing things. Browsing an uncrowded Ikea on a Wednesday was actually relaxing. Maybe I have actually lost my mind for good this time.
Seven
Costco. I know I'm late to the crowd here, but wow, the savings are awesome. Not everything is cheaper, but the savings on two items alone are worth the membership.
Eight
2014 looks promising. I don't make resolutions at the start of new years.... I just make them whenever I feel like I need a change. Why wait until a new year to start bettering yourself?
Nine
There are two parts in church that I like the most... the promise of forgiveness at the beginning and the benediction at the end.
Ten
Listening to music. Music is such a great therapy. The harmonies and melodies. The riffs and choruses and the unexpected departures from them... it's soothing.

ten happy things friday
one
Both girls are napping. This is a huge deal for me since Rose has pretty much given up naps. I wasn't sure what to do with this uninterrupted time so here I am.
two
Last Friday I was able to go with D and his class on a field trip to a corn maize. It was a lot of fun to get to spend some time with just him. Also, first graders are hilarious.
three
I could be doing things like putting laundry away or reorganizing the baskets in the bathroom, but due to our new "no housework after noon" policy I painted my nails and read blogs instead.
four
Sam had a checkup earlier this week and I snapped this picture in the exam room because how awesome and rare is it to see this in a doctor's office (or anywhere that's not church affiliated)?
five
How cute is this baby?
six
Sunday we went out to a pumpkin patch/Christmas tree farm and had such a good time! And I am really excited about Christmas this year.
seven
Tacos are delicious.
eight
Date nights. We don't get many and don't even have one planned, but I like having them.
nine
October in Texas. Cool in the mornings and warm and sunny in the afternoons.
ten
Happy birthday to my sweet mother-in-law today and to my brother tomorrow!

The Little Things
Some of the little things in my life that make me happy:
- our bird feeder and watching all the birds that come to it
- our garden
- the new (non leaky, has a handle) coffee press
- banana oatmeal cookies
- outdoor temperatures below 90

ten happy things friday
One
School started this week. D is in 1st grade and Ry started kindergarten, so it's just us girls at home during the day. (It's really sort of nice, but I do miss the guys.)
Two
Last Monday I started a new routine with my cleaning/ housekeeping. I do what I can until 12pm and then the heavy work is done and I'm just Mommy. I still make dinner and I clean up after our snacks. I'm not sure why, but this really works for me.
Three
Popcorn shrimp. It's good and it's my lunch.
Four
Awesome deals on clothes. This really is one of the best times to shop. I found some sweet bargains on jeans and dress pants for the kids online.
Five
After looking at a lot of pictures of wreaths I got the courage to make one myself for our front door. I think it turned out pretty.
Six
I got these divided containers (but I spent half as much) for the boys' lunches. I was feeling like sandwich bags were coming out of my ears and these fit so much, plus I don't have to worry about running out of bags and it's saving me money.
Seven
Our cat, Hugh. He catches mice.
Eight
The nickname Rose calls Sam... Samamfie. For some reason she just can't say SamaNTHa. It is adorable and I love how well they get along.
Nine
Running. I still like it. I've started doing intervals to work on my speed. That sounds all serious, but really I just don't want to be the last one across the finish line at our school's 5k in October.
Ten
I wrote this post and it's been difficult sitting down to blog lately, so I'm glad I got through this. And it's the weekend!! (almost)

ten happy things friday
one
This little cutie is crawling! At her 6 month check up the doc was very impressed with her being ahead of several milestones (by the way, don't let anyone stress you out about those timelines, Mamas, babies are all different- some are over achievers/show offs and others could care less about impressing you with anything other than how loud they scream or big they smile.) Anyhow, we knew she would crawl early and she was sitting and backing up and this week she got the legs and arms working together to go forward. Our lives will never be the same now.
two
I can't take a picture of this guy not smiling. In just about every single picture that I take at swim Ry has a huge grin on his face. While he's diving, when he comes up for air, when he's practicing kicks and floating on his back. Also, how awesome is that picture of him jumping off the diving board? He has no fear.
three
My D-Man. I'm so proud of him. I know he was nervous about jumping off that board, but he did it. I loved getting to watch both boys have so much fun.
four
The C25K program. I'm almost done with week 4. So I am half way! I'm happy with my progress- especially because at the beginning I thought week four was impossible. Honestly, every week I look at the next week's training and think it seems unlikely that I can do it and then every week I surprise myself and do it. It's not always perfect, definitely not "easy", but I never quit. I'm running for me, but having the family there at the park (there's is an awesome track there) really encourages me to keep going.
five
The blended iced coffee I made the other afternoon. 2 cups hazelnut coffee, two scoops Dulce de luche ice cream, handful of ice and a splash of vanilla almond milk. It was a great pick-me-up (and a nice indulgence).
six
Sisters. Rose is so sweet and such a good big sister.
seven
Fresh basil, rosemary and cilantro from our garden.
eight
Sleeping until 7am. On a weekday!
nine
The bbq ribs I made for Father's Day.... can't wait to make them again.
ten
A big birthday shout-out to CLB- Happy 30th!!!!

ten happy things friday
1
A good, filling sandwich.
2
My C25K program. I'm actually enjoying it and looking forward to my 20ish minutes of me time.
3
Alligator Pears (aka avocados).
4
All of our plants are growing so well!
5
I'm hooked on double banana, Greek yogurt & almond milk shakes. And I enjoy stretching. I don't even know who I am anymore.
6
The boys start swim lessons on Monday. I think Rose might get a little jealous.
7
Father's Day is Sunday and I plan on making ribs for the event. I've never made ribs before, but obviously I like to live a little on the wild side. I hope they turn out good. (I'll also be making a lemon meringue pie- also never made before. Guess what meringue doesn't like? Humidity. Guess what we have here.... yeah. It should turn out super.)
8
My kids are awesome.
9
We get to babysit our nephew tonight. He is at that super fun age of "almost 2". I really do like that age; I'm not being sarcastic.

Rose: Um.... So cute!
Two
I finished reading my lent devotional last night. Why am I surprised that I wanted it to continue?
Three
Really looking forward to having some chocolate on Sunday. It has been hard.
Four
Mail. Usually I hate getting mail, but sometimes there's a wonderful gift waiting.
Five
D has a four day weekend... he started it out by sleeping in until 7:45!
Six
Hair products. Specifically Suave Moroccan Infusian Styling Oil (makes my hair so soft!) and Johnson's no more tangles spray for Rose.

A successful grocery trip with all "four little ones!!!" (repeated the cashier- she told me she was one of 9!)
Eight

ten happy things friday
one
Tomorrow my family is getting together for breakfast and a coffee taste testing. I'm going to make pancakes and I'm bringing some coffee to try- it should be a lot of fun!
two
I made these asian chicken lettuce wraps a few nights ago and I really liked them! I did not follow the recipe to a "T", but they were still great.
three
More food happiness here... last night I really wanted some chicken parm, but didn't want the trouble of actually going through the process of making it. So I threw some frozen chicken breasts sprinkled with basil, garlic powder and s&p in the oven for 30 minutes. I pulled them out and spooned some jarred pasta sauce over them and topped with some shredded mozzarella and baked for another 20 ish mintues. They were so good! I told the kids it was "pizza chicken" and they gobbled it up saying that it was really yummy and they want me to make it again. Winning!
four
Sam is starting to "talk" more and it's great listening to her.
five
six
Well... I don't know what to really say, but Tim and I have been laughing at all the harlem shake videos.
seven
My kids are really good. Maybe they drive me crazy sometimes, but I'm blessed.
eight
The wind has been really strong this week and it's finally back to normal so that the kids actually want to be outside again.
nine
Can you believe it's March already? I'm glad Winter is about over.
ten
The weekend starts in 90 minutes. Yay!

ten happy things friday
- Freshly brewed coffee in the afternoon
- Shiny new tires
- Family always close by to help
- A baby that can fall asleep on her own
- New black flats
- Seeing extended family last Saturday at a baby shower
- Hopefully getting a haircut this weekend
- Surprised that my kids tried and liked (sort of) their salad of baby spinach and white mushrooms. (Maybe it was the ranch dressing they really liked.)
- I want to make some cookies, but time is running out
- I still haven't figured out the Moby wrap (honestly I haven't tried it again), but have a different baby carrier that is super easy and Sam likes a lot. Makes the fussy afternoons much better.

ten happy things friday
It's been quite a while since I've done one of these posts! The reason I started "ten happy things" was because it demanded me to look for what I am thankful for or things that make me happy instead of focusing on things that are generally categorized as "first world problems".
uno

dos

tres
watching the sun come up this morning
cuatro
pizza sandwiches for lunch

seis

siete
good mornings all week
ocho

nueve

diez
